Beautyflow.com newtexasmom"Hi,This post is in regards to my previous one about complexion. I finally somehow got convinced to try the BareMinerals Makeup and so i went and got the starter kit for Medium Tan(as i am not that fair skinned but with a medium complexion). I did watch their introductory video etc and put the makeup on this morning.Couple of questions.#1. I liked it as it feels so light. Even with just applying a moisturiser and compressed powder, i used to feel as if something is on my face#2. Should i put my regular moisturiser after shower/cleansing the face and then put the Bare Minerals on top of it?#3. I did see some change in the face but not the immediate glow that they show on TV. Did i get a wrong color? Did i apply too little? or Did i not apply like i am supposed to?#4. How long does this stay? On my typical work day, i can clearly see the face turning so oily and worn out by end of the day. I do wash with just water in the afternoon to make my face look normal.#5. Applying the Bar Minerals for face is good. But then the neck seems to be different without the make up. What can i really use to get the even look both for face and neck.#6. How good are the Lip and Eye products from BareMinerals?#7. I know these can be expensive if you start wearing them day in day life. But where do you usually buy them? online? or dept. stores? Which ones?

"I recently got a "starter kit" also, and really like the look and feel of the Bare Minerals. It might take several applications to start feeling more comfortable with the process and results.Yes, wash your face as usual, apply moisturizer, let it "soak in" for a few minutes, then apply your Bare Minerals make up. Mine lasts all day, and the times I've fallen asleep on the sofa without washing my face, it still looked so good the next morning it would have been passable to just touch it up and go (no, I didn't, but I could have), but I have dry-ish skin.If you are getting oily by the afternoon, you might try a different moisturizer. If you don't already use a light, oil-free moisturizer, then do so. If you think you can go without a moisturizer, you might try that and see how it works. I use a firming gel over my moisturizer, as a make up primer, you might try something on that order instead of moisturizer. If you aren't getting that "glow" and are having trouble with your make up standing out from your neck, then I'd assume you need to adjust the color. Generally you should match your color to your neck to avoid the noticeable difference between neck and face. You might not be as medium toned as you think, so try the lightest shade your kit came with (test it against your neck). If you watched the video instructions, you know to do the foundation, concealer, the blusher/glow, then the mineral veil last. The starter kit I got came with several shades of color. I am fair skinned so I use the "clear radiance" as a blush, and a "bronzer" across the bridge of my nose and across my forehead, chin, and jawline, for a natural glow. Until I've applied the radiance, I don't really see the "glow" either. I got mine at Ulta, and a sales lady helped me pick a shade and did a demo on me. They had the starter kits and individual products. You might look it up on line and see if you can find a place that sells it near you, so you can actually try it on and get a good match before you invest the money. I know lots of women that wear their make up way too dark, thinking they look more tanned, or think that they are darker than they really are. It ends up looking very noticeable, tacky, and "unpolished", like they don't know how to put on make up. I've never tried the eye or lip products, I'm waiting for a sale or coupon. I liked the make-up I was using before, but it tends to feel a tad greasy and clogs pores after I've had it on all day (or fall asleep in it). I REALLY like the way the Bare Minerals looks, feels, doesn't clog pores, staying power, and it doesn't hurt if I sleep in it occasionally. I always get compliments when I wear it for my "glow" (but that might be because they aren't used to seeing me "fixed up"). But for whatever reason, I feel good when I wear it, like it brings out the best in my skin vs. just covering up the flaws.

Thanks catwoman. I have an ULTA store near where I live. I might take the kit that i got and check with them to see if it is the shade that i really need.Do they usally do a free trial make up for you with the shades that best fit you so that you can really see the difference?Do they give you any trial kits as well before you can actually purchase them?

"Yes, use your moisturizer first and let it soak in. It sounds like you dont have the right color base. I noticed the base tends to be kinda yellowish, so maybe you need to go lighter. I LOVE their eyeshadows, especially the foils/shimmers. Their mascara and lip stuff is eh. I love their blush too...the shades are great! If you want to try things out before you buy them, look on ebay. People sell little samples of colors for a few bucks. And remember that Ulta will let you return anything even after you use it if you dont like it! I usually go to Ulta to buy the stuff. They send out mailers with coupons (20% off or $3.00 off) and I look for specials on QVC (they have a website). Ive been able to save a few bucks here and there doing that.

"Just be careful with Bare Minerals and Sheer Cover there are various class action suits pending, the main reason is that both products contain bismuth which will clog pores and irritate the skin also it has talc another irritant. I personally could not use it it broke me out horribly and my skin felt oily. I have seen various boards like makeup alley have a lot of negatives posted about bare minerals.

"NOW WHO IS SPAMMING AXELAS !!! so you follow me around and condemn me for so called spamming when all I am doing is sharing results, but yet it is perfectly ok for you to spam and quote web site... What a hypocrite you are !! You advertise for many or wait in your case since you know everything you are helping others YEAH RIGHT !!! When anyone else offers friendly advice you follow and write nasty harassing posts... grow up or go to therapy !

"Ok wow. Sorry Elegantliving, but the whole reason that bare minerals is called bare MINERALS, is because it DOES NOT contain TALC or other skin irritants. Where the hey did you get your info? I have used it for six years now, and my skin has NEVER been clearer. "The coverage is flawless, free of preservatives, talc, oil, waxes, fragrances, and other chemicals that can irritate skin and cause breakout" This is exactly what it says on the website at Sephora. (Ref. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P61003&categoryId=C16490) That's the whole idea behind healthy makeup!? Honestly, it sounds to me like you are just blowing hot air. (I'm so getting chewed for this post....but eh? What's new?) Now. As for mom of two cuties, use a moisturizer first, right after the shower, then apply light coats until it looks right. Another tip, you know how the kit comes with the flawless face brush and the kabuki brush? Try using the kabuki brush for the foundation rather than the glow, I know in the movie it says use the flawless face brush, but trust me-the kabuki works waaaaayyyyy better. As for their other products....the mascara, called " The Big Tease" works great, really, it isn't waterproof though. And I swear by the eye shadows. I have also tried Buxom Lips in Amber. Perfect for day, has a pleasant tingly feeling and smells REALLY good, like vanilla, but it does get kind of sticky. I'm not so keen on the pure radiance, it looks like overkill in a pot, unless you use it only when you KNOW you will be in dimmed light or candle light, then it looks quite nice, otherwise no. I also recommend the kits. The eye shadows etc. can be quite expensive, but if you get a kit it's cheaper and you seem to get more. You usually get brushes too. (Which is good because they are expensive separately.) All in all, you have to practice, and I would go see a sephora or Ulta person to determine your color. I buy mine online, or in Vegas when I go to sephora. Hope it helped! Pro~

"ProCosmetic I've seen Sephora sold @J C Penney website as well. Do you know if the Penney's prices are in line with Sephora's regular prices? Signature lasts me a long time, but now I need to order a few items again. Was considering trying Sephora. I like Signature, just want to try something new.

"I will toss in my two cents, it is online 2 class action law suits one against bare minerals and the second against sheer cover, due to bismuth contents and they had to quickly re-formulate. I know this because I work at one of the law firms that is currently handling these two suits in addition to Proactive. Some people have good luck with it but many have had tons of problems. Good night ladies...

Come on....some makeup works for some...doesnt work for others. I have reccommended Bare Minerals to so many people I have lost count and now every single one of them swears by it. There are other makeup brands that irritate my skin for one reason or another. I simply dont use those brands.

"Mom of two cuties.... Yeah I actually was just looking at the Sephora branch on JcPenney.com and they are all the same prices. Also If you buy a lot of makeup. (Like me :P) You should become a beauty insider at sephora.com. It gives you deals, free shipping, free samples, etc. It's free you just have to sign up. No matter what anyone says (Elegantliving) I will ALWAYS recommend bare minerals. It has done wonders for my skin, and all the people I know. I have recommended it to so many people it's ridiculous. Really, I even wore it in Vegas in 110 degree weather and it actually held up! That right there was amazing to me. I was sold. They have a new kit out with some eye shadows, brushes, and a lip-gloss. It's called "Be Campy", and it would be the perfect way for you to try out their other products because it has earthy, neutral colors, nothing to bright. If you like bright colors however, you can try the bolder collection called "Be Real Fall 2007 Collection". It has colors like blue and green. I have a color eye shadow called "Peacock" it is the most dazzling shade of green. It really looks like a peacock!!!! Anyhow, I think I have babbled quite enough! Hope it helps! Pro~

"ProCosmetic: Thanks for the advice about the kabuki brush. And I'll leave my moisturizer on for a few more minutes before I bare mineral myself. I love it, as do my friends. We've all been lucky with it and I have to admit, I sleep with it on. I can barely get my eye makeup off before I go to bed, bad mama.

I want to try it but I have uneveness and a few subtle scars on my face. What is the coverage level of bare minerals. It seems to be very sheer.

"ProCosmetic thanks for answering my question about Sephora vs JCPenneys Sephora. When I was @Sephora site it was overwhelming with items to choose from. I'd never qualify as a beauty advisor. I'm an advisor's nightmare! Will get Signature again, for now, & check out Sephora later. Do love their eye shadow selection, muted colors are great for me. I have 55 yr old eyes, and concealer (yellow) is wonderful. Bare minerals are perfect- do not like heavy coverage on my face. sighthoundlover That's why I love vaseline, takes eye makeup off simply & easily. I've heard vaseline is good for your eyelashes too. Great for lips & chapped skin too.

"Bare Minerals is sheer, what I don't like about all the powder minerals is that is really does not last as long and you do need re application. My friend Kelly has that trouble all the time, I have so much to do in the day with work, hubby, kids and just life , unlike my friend Kelly I can't be bothered to carry the brush with me and re apply when needed. I need a real trooper when in comes to foundation. I love the Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation by BEE LUSCIOUS COSMETICS , its great medium coverage that LASTS and using the primer under neath , WOW really works. I rave about it because it has really delivered results for me and many of my friends and family.

"Hi Elegant Living, Can you tell me where I can check out the Bee Lucsious? Sounds good. I have oily skin, so I've never found a foundation that would last me all day.

"Almond~ my skin is a tad uneven too and I love Bare minerals. One of the great things about it is you can add layers for more coverage without looking cake-y or really like you're wearing any make up at all. One thing I do when I have a blemish is after I put on the Bare Minerals I dab a tiny bit of concealer on it and then follow with another swipe of the powder. I know this sounds like I'd look like I was wearing a ton of make up, but it doesn't! I recently had a facial and the lady complimented how well the Bare Minerals covered the blemish I had. She also said she has a ton of clients who rave about how well Bare Minerals works. I have really sensitive skin and have never had any problems with it since I started using it!

The thing with bareminerals is that you determine the coverage by how much you put on. Want more coverage then put on a bit more. Because it is so fine you build it up. I live in AZ and even on the hottest day mine lasts much longer than anything liquid.

"Just my 2 cents worth... I did NOT like Bare Minerals. I like Philosophy "airbrush" mineral makeup a lot better. Better coverage with just 1 application and yes my skin is better since I've started wearing mineral makeup {2 years} I did like the Bare Minerals eye shadow and blush though. Just be careful, a little goes a looooooong way!

"AmysTwin so you are still advertising the same bee royal stuff. I have been away for awhile, but will gladly report abuse as I have in the past. Anyone else can report abuse to advise MSN about spam & ads. I tried Physicians Formula mineral make-up a year ago & now wear it to work ( hospital night shifts-12 hrs long). I can apply it quickly & it isn't thick looking on my face. I apply by brushing in small circles on my face till I have just the right base. Then just add some blush for color & top off with lipstick or gloss. Will check out Sephora some day when have more time.

"I normally don't wear makeup, but I decided to give peach-colored blush a try. So I went to Sephora and found a shade of Bare Minerals (Golden Gate) that I liked. Albeit, $18 for blush is a little expensive, but so far in two days it hasn't made my face breakout, and it doesn't take much to get the amount of color I like. We'll see I suppose.

Bare Minerals does contain Bismuth here is a link with what it is: http://ezinearticles.com/?Mineral-Makeup-and-Bismuth-Oxychloride&id=68978 its really bad for your skin !

"I started using BE like alot of people but was never 100% happy with the results either. I found that there are bunches and bunches of smaller mineral companies that make great quality foundations for a lot less money. Plus being smaller companies you can get more of a "one on one" experience - even though it's online! I've had several companies make custom color foundations for me since I seem to be a very weird shade of super-pale greenish-olive! And often times you can get samples free or for a small amount instead of buying the big kit from BE. Some other brands you could try are Lumiere, UGloGirl, Fusion of Color, Pure Luxe, Valerie Beauty, Monave - just to name a few. You could also go to www.mineralmakeupmania.com to find out tips and just about anything you could ever want to know about mineral makeup! I hope this info will help. Mineral makeup can give you such great results if you can just find the right one for you!
