Beautyflow.com sherster33I am 33 and have recently developed acne on my back. Most of them are horrible non-pus forming pimples. How do I get rid of them?

Make sure you scrub with a loofah or net sponge. Neutrogena has a new body wash for acne on your back and chest. Try that.

"Change your sheets every other day. Go find a hot tub to sit in for a while every few days. Did you change any products that you use on your hair or on your clothing? If you have long hair, it could be a sensitivity to your products. Mix up a solution of hydrogen peroxide and tap water in a mix of three to one, and put it in a dark spray bottle, or keep it in a dark cabinet. Spray your back after towelling off. Use a clean towel when you shower.

"I have several suggestions and commentsThere is a great informational and product website specific to your issue www.acne.org and there is a specific regimen recommended for back acne on www.dankernsregimen.com. There are discussion groups, questions and answers, etc. and it addresses the differences in treating body acne vs face and there is a difference. The other product you will want no matter what product line you use is at www.bodybuddy.com. It is a non-absorbent lotion applicator "band" totally different than what you would expect and makes it easy so you can reach your back to apply everything. No one else has to help-- Acne.org has a product rating system as well and users reveiwed body buddy there too. It is made of a soft vinyl which does not irritate, already irritated skin (i have to disagree with the loofah suggestion, as it irritates) and you can use "body buddy" applicator to apply prescription medications such as cleocin-t, benzoyl peroxides, etc. as well as moisturizer, sunscreen, whatever you want and it does NOT absorb/waste your products. It is around $25, worth every penny, you can throw it in the washer, and since i travel all the time, i take it with me wherever i go to use with sunscreen and sunless tanner.

"I agree, the loofah irritates already irritaed skin--i checked out acne.org and dankernsregimen prior to responding. Lots of great information. I am interested in what other 'posters' respond to the products offered on dankernsregimen and bodybuddy.com. I am new at this and i wonder...

"Accutane. Not stuff to mess with (can't drink unless in extreme moderation, can have mutant babies while on and six months after taking it, etc.). However, I had the worst chest, back, face, and scalp acne (as in, more zit than skin - not kidding) and it got so bad that I'd roll over and the pain would wake me up. I also watched life pass me by when there were periods I was too embarrassed to leave the house. I started it right before I turned 30. The problem with topical products is that acne, in my case, was caused by overproduction of skin oils. Topical only helps a bit after the fact. I asked my Dermatologist about the Pill and he said that it often worked "okay" UNTIL the person went OFF the pill (and apparently there were a few people that experienced big breakouts in the off-week). My skin needed "retraining". I did the research and relayed my fears and he said that he'd been prescribing it since the '80s and only had to take one person off because they'd been drinking like a fish and it showed up in their blood tests (oh yeah, you have to get your blood tested and a pregnancy test every month - whatever, I have my life back!). Do your research - the proverbial "they" tried to pin suicides on this stuff, but it turns out that it was mostly a chicken before egg thing (which you can figure out just by thinking about it). Also, you'll read on some message boards how people grossly ignored the rules, but then blamed the product when they had a reaction. Just take the time to read all about it and make a decision for yourself. And follow the danged rules and listen to your danged doctor! Geez! I did find the boards helpful in many ways, though - gave me some tips and support. All I know is my experience. I had some dry skin days, modified my skin care regimen and all was well (Spectrogel and Kiss My Face rule!). I don't even recognize myself. The MOST I ever get now is a teeny pustule or two around "that time of the month". I was on it for five months and I've been off of it for over a year and the scars are mostly gone. I even get compliments on my skin on an almost daily basis! It might be partly due to the glow I have and the happiness I feel when it's a thousand degrees outside and I can wear a tank top with my hair up and still meet the eye of a cute guy... Any questions, lemme know!

"I recently developed nodular back, neck, and scalp acne and after much distress (and considering Accutane), I figured out that it was being caused by residue from frizz control shampoos and conditioners that contained a lot of silicone. I switched and the problem was solved. Yours may or may not be that simple but it couldn't hurt to try different products. Good luck!
