"Ok i need help! This has been going on for the past 10 months, since I got contact lenses. At least once a day make up seems to find its way into my eye and gets in my lenses and causes my eyes to start watering and hurting. It happens mostly in my left eye (like right now). I dont think that I wear excessive amounts of make up at all, and im starting to get annoyed because when this happens my eyes water or I rub them which messes up my make up and usually makes the situation worse. Has this happened to anyone else? AND please tell me theres something I can do to prevent this from happening....

"I've worn contacts for years. An eye doctor told me to use baby shampoo to remove make up! It is gentle, effective, and "no more tears" so it doesn't sting or leave an oily residue on the eye surface (or on the lashes themselves, which can cause mascara to flake off easier) like most make-up removers, baby oil, or cold cream. (I even use it for face and body wash on occasion if I run out of something, or when I'm "traveling light" and want to cut down on the number and/or size of bottles and products to have to pack.)When you say make up, I assume you mean mascara. I rarely wear mascara anymore, and just curl my lashes and brush any stray make-up off with a damp eyelash/brow brush (getting powder or foundation on the lashes adds oil, and makes lashes look paler). Yes, I feel a little bare without it, but it is much easier on your eyes (and my daughter told me I look younger without it, that was definitely a plus!). I also put it on very lightly, just to strategically enhance some of the lashes, without coating all of the lashes. ALSO, check for loose eyelashes before putting in your contacts, and again before applying mascara, just gently pull/pluck at your eyelashes with your fingers to get the loose ones off, don't yank. When I do use mascara, I usually use a formula for sensitive eyes, which has less "fumes" that can make your eyes water (Almay has one, and I've seen several others). Avoid those for "lengthening", "volumizing", or "thickening", as they have little fibers that stick to your lashes, and can flake off later. I used to use a "lash tint" that was pretty much like mascara only lighter and less heavy, but can't find it anymore (Maybeline, I think). If you mean other make up, then if it's flaking or rubbing off you need to adjust the type of make up you're using or the amount. Also, don't go right up to the corner or edges of the eye when applying foundation, powder, eyeliner, or eye shadow. You might have to adjust to a more sheer make up formula or natural look. You could go to a department store make up counter for a little free make-over to try different types of make up, and some will give free samples. Finding the right one for you is often a process of trial and error.

"you should change or dis infect ur lenses and alwaz wash ur lenses before wearing them, the lense cleansing solution is easily available... wash ur hands before wearing lenses....and wash ur eyes with rose water every morning and evening... its harm less... u can put it in a small bottle and carry it in ur bag... and instead of rubbing put 2,3 drops in ur eyes when it hurts.... it will itch a little for 3,4 seconds when u put it in ur eyes but it will clear the problem.... don't rub ur eyes ever when u r wearing lenses it can cause serious damage... use cream shadows or wet ur brush before applying colour on it... curl ur lashes with the eye lash curler and use water resistant mascara, only on the tips of lashes... if u want to paint the whole lash, after appling mascara use a tiny comb (usually used for combing brows) and brush of the excessive mascara gently ( 2,3 gentle stroke of comb will do it)... hope it helps...

"when you need to rub your eyes when they itch, do it the smart way. i've worn contacts for 10 years now. put your finger at the very outer or inner edge of your eye. rub it in circles, which causes the lid to itch your eye. This way, you don't mess up your make-up.Also, if you've gotten used to touching your eye with your finger (which I can do without even blinking), when you get something in your eye, move your contact off of your eye so it doesn't hurt like hell. don't worry... it will move back.also, cry whatever you got in your eye out. either by putting your head to the side and pouring a bunch of solution into it---or by letting the natural tears from your eye eventually washing it out.hope it makes sense and helps. you'll get used to it!
