I mean: I'm ten years old and I wiegh 107 pounds. I'm 5 foot 1 and my legs are Really fat. Even my mom said so what should I do? I hate the taste of healthy food and I used to be in gymnastics but now i can't exscrice because I tore a ligament in my arm.

Sweetie you are NOT fat! I am 5'1 and weigh 115 lbs and am on the skinny side because i workout so often! Trust me I am sure you are a very pretty girl! I used to be a very chubby kid and by chubby i mean 5'1 and 155 lbs. I lost weight but became obsessed with getting skinny. Don't do that to yourself. You are young just don't overeat and try and be active.

"Smiley_Sami- It breaks my heart that you are only 10 and are asking questions like this! You are not fat, and you shouldn't have to hear that from ANYONE, especially your mom. If you are feeling down about how you look you should focus on things about yourself that you do like. How you treat other people, your intelligence, sooo many other things matter much much more than your appearance. I know people say that all of the time, but it's really true. If you really feel unhealthy then make a pact with yourself to go walking every day or try a new healthy food everyday, but it shouldn't be about exercising to lose weight or dieting to lose weight. Just doing easy things like walking or eating a little bit mroe healthy everyday can make you feel good about taking care of your body.Life isn't about "Fat" and "Skinny" and we should stop labeling each other as such.

Hunni....Your Fabulous-when i was your age i was on the pudgy side-im now 19 and very thin (thanks family) Trust me when ur that young your body will seem heavier but growing up and out (butt/boobs) you'll be very pleased. Dont worry-eat what you want and just stay active with your friends!!!!! Everything will even out in time-DONT even think about your weight until your 20 thats when fat IS fat ;)

"Get that ligament healed and play basketball or volleyball. You'll have the distinctive advantage of being tall, and perhaps you'll feel better about yourself.

"Smiley Sami,You are well within the normal range for weight to height ratio. At only 10 yrs old you are likely still growing in height until your mid teens. And its not that uncommon to grow until your late teens (I grew an additional 1/2 inch between the ages of 16 and 18). Someone who is self confident and happy would not be nearly so concerned with their self image. You need to decide which you want to do more: develop good nutrition and fitness habits and building your confidence, or sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. If you take the energy you spend complaining and worrying and use it on yourself in a more constructive way, you will become happier and more confident. And if anyone criticizes you or your appearance, ignore them or figure out what is their motivation for making you look bad. As you gain confidence, others sense it and the remarks will either stop or will roll of your back much easier. How do you gain confidence? By taking care of yourself and making better decisions, even when you don't feel like it, by finding something you are good at and honing those skills, and by projecting a positive attitude ("fake it till you feel it"). If you can't do gymnastics, you can walk or bicycle until your arm heals. IF you have access to a pool, swimming is great exercise. There is nutrition advice available in abundance. You don't have to starve yourself or eat yucky food. Sometimes it's just a matter of choosing to cut back just a little on sweets, sodas, junk food, and starchy foods, and incorporate a little more fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Like eating a turkey or chicken sandwich on wheat bread with fruit or baked chips instead of a Big Mac and fries, etc...

"SWeetheart please dont make the same mistake I did at your age. I thought my STOMACH was too big for the rest of me (and yeah it was, lol) but instead of choosing to get counseling about not looking what I felt I should look like I became ill, uno bulimic as I got older and honey the best advise you can get is from a counselor. Please go to one, maybe a church or school counselor PLEASE GO TODAY.

Sweetie you are not fat - there is nothing wrong with you and of all the people in this world your mom should be your biggest support group not telling you taht you are fat. Once the torn ligament in your arm heals start exercising im sure that will mak eyou feel better about yourself - take a walk - ride a bike with friends - roller skate things like that! Dont't worry im sure your a pretty girl!

"Sweets, I'm 5' even & weigh 102. Your weight is fine. If you don't like the way your legs look then maybe if you wear shoes with a heel it would stretch them out a little bit. If you wear shorts try a wedged shoe or sandal. Make sure your jeans fit well and the legs go all the way down to a little past the bridge of your foot. I always get my slacks & jeans a little long to allow for shrinkage. Please don't let anyone tell you your too fat. You're not.

"Smiley - Ok, I'm SORRY your mom told you that your legs are fat. That's sad. I can understand that you feel insecure about your legs being bigger than other girls your age, but at 10 you have to try to remember that you're still growing and developing. Your body will change. You may find that when you're 11 (or 12) all of a sudden your legs are toothpicks! I tell all my clients that it isn't how MUCH you weigh, but how you feel inside and how you feel about the way your clothes fit (take in consideration, these are adult women/men). Basically, weight is relative...it all depends on your body 'type' - and not just height. For example: a client who weighed 125 and is 5'0" considered herself chubby, and was a size 6....she lost 3 sizes, but her weight only changed about 10 lbs. - Just keep eating healthy and exercise (even if it's taking a walk - for now, until you can get back into your gymnast workouts) regularly, and stop focusing on your weight, because I can tell you now, that the more you worry about your weight, the harder it will be to enjoy life, like yourself, and actually eat healthy... Keep your chin up and enjoy your childhood. It's good your conscious about your looks, just don't let them RULE who you are and what you do!

"darlin dont feel bad lol i know how you feel im 12, 5' 3" and i weigh 120 lbs. plz plz plz dont say ur fat it makes me feel bad about meself!!!!! lol plus big thighs=cute butt lol but good ways to tone thighs and especially calves is climbing stairs. at first its excruciating, but it gets easier!!! TRUST ME girls in my grade are like "im so fat!!" and i ask them how much they weigh there like "100" or even "90" and im like omg that totally breaks my heart so im all like, "do NOT tell me u are fat, i weigh 120 lbs." ppl say they dont even notice. so be happy, probly no one can tell good advice for tummy/thigh distractions;1. dark colors are flattering2. so are layers3. bring attention upwards with a scarf, necklace, dangly earings, or a nice hairdo4. V-necklines make u look taller and skinnier5. Ruching or wrinkling the fabric on ur stomach makes u look super duper skinny 6. higer rise pants keep tummies flatter7. heels (even small ones, like on boots) make everyones legs look so much better just have fun! (if u cant tell, im a fashionista, we always have fun lol) confidence makes u look better + there will always be days when u just feel fat so dont get discouraged (im getting rapid mood swings, so these days happen about 5 times a month) ull feel better about ur self soon but eating fruits always make me feel good and they are healthy so give them a try
