"Whatever you wear, make sure it is flattering, streamlined, and camouflages the trouble spots. You can try making yourself appear taller and slimmer by wearing your hair up, or a little poufy on top, and wear heels of some kind, even mid heels, and wearing more fitted clothing that is all one color. Wearing loud prints, or different colors will visually "chop" you up, making you appear shorter and heavier.Avoid wearing too tight clothes that accentuate the chubby areas, or baggy clothing that adds the appearance of extra bulk. You might try wearing tailored blouses or thin tailored jackets, or cardigans in mostly dark to medium monochromatic color combinations, maybe saving a splash of color at your neck (like a colorful top under a darker jacket/cardigan with dark slacks). I'm assuming you have a substantial "neckline" if you are voloptuous, in which case you don't want to show much cleavage at work, but you can minimize it by wearing v-necks, or a scoop neck shell under a v-front cardigan or jacket, or add a long necklace to a rounded neck top.Like for the office: dark brown slacks, thin fitted med brown jacket/blazer (solid or subtle pattern), beige or cream shell blouse, tank, or camisole under the jacket, some great earrings (not too dangly or sparkly for the office), hair up or "poufed" on top & away from the sides of the face, and medium heels, same color as the pants. If the jacket is a little fitted at the waist it be more slimming and flattering. You are lucky to be tallish, so take advantage of that by wearing heels, hair up, and streamlined colors/styles to automatically make you appear taller and slimmer. For a night out or casual, substitute dark bootcut jeans, a cute top - maybe a camisole and shrug in the same color/pattern, heeled boots or casual wedge heeled shoes, and more dangly or sparkly earrings.

"Try slim fitting slacks flat front no pleats, sweater combinations, layering looks professional and hides areas. Not the long type blazers but blazers that are more cropped to your waist. Long broom skirts make you look longer and hide areas as well, Stay away from belts with long blouses. Go for Empire waist dresses.

"Play up your curves girl! I too am voluptuous and love structured, shaped button down shirts (New York and Co, Anne Taylor and Express sells some great tops) They are conservative but will emphasize a great figure. I LOVE the new wide legged pants. They are chick and if fitted right, they will shave pounds off of you. I personally loath wearing all one color. I usually go with a neutral and a bright color. I dont look short, choppy or chunky. In fact, I get compliments on how I dress. Wrap tops, structured jackets and other tailored pieces should look great on you. try to find clothes with structure in them. Also, try to find yourself a just below the knee A line skirt. What ever you do, dont hide yourself under clothes that are too loose or too flowy or dont have any shape to them. To look longer, try a pointy toed shoe or something with a heel. Dont be afraid to wear something to emphasize a small waist or try a lighter, bright color. You dont need to be 105 pounds to wear something other than black/brown/navy. Catwoman...whats with the emphasis on poufy hair?

"Fieryred, I think maybe "poufy" was a poor choice of words. I didn't mean poufy as in Marge Simpson or big helmet hair, but something of interest that draws the eye up or attractively frames the face, rather than flat on top and poufy on the sides. Too much hair, too straight, too tight, OR too poufy can make you look heavier. Depends on the shape of the face and the overall body shape. Something like: Not like:

"Oh man, i wish i was you. I'm 5'6" and about 200. I'm a size 16 on the bottom and 12 on the top..explain that one, lol. I'm hoping to get down to what you are now..a size 12 on the bottom is my goal, if I were you I would be very happy, you aren't fat at all!! Size 12 is the norm! Anyways. I would DEFINATLY agree with empire waist dresses, I have a million and they are the most flatering thing I wear. I would suggest NY&Co for some really cute professional wear, they're sizes run a bit big so you might even be a 10 in there, lol. I would also suggest getting an amazing pair of jeans. I love Mossimo jeans from Target in a dark rinse. If you have a cute pair of jeans that flatter you, you'll feel amazing and whatever you pair with them will look good. I would also suggest tailoring your clothing. Like for myself I can never find jeans that fit me in the hips as well as the waist, so I get them tailored and they fit really well. Good luck!!

"Im going to be honest, Im also 5'6" and I would feel fat at the weight you say youre at. Im not saying it looks necessarily bad, but yeah I consider that over weight, dont u? I think if u weighed maybe Idk 155 or a little less you would not wonder anymore if you might be fat. I weigh currently 134 but Ive been up to 144 or maybe a lb less than that, no I didnt diet persay to get it off, but I worked at it and it did come off. I looked okay tho at 140ish and probly could pass ok at 150ish, but I personally refuse to. I look younger at this e=weight but certainly not gaunt or skinny at all.
