"My doctor gave me cream to heal a bad burn. It completely took the scar away. Since there was some left, I used it on the acne scars on my chin and now they are gone too. Maybe try the burn creams at your pharmacy. I don't remember the name as it was over a year ago, but it was definitely for burns not scars.

"I do not have acne, never did, but I do have a compulsive problem that I've been dealing with for about 6 years now called "self injurious skin picking" and have many scars on my face from it. It's very embarrassing and no matter what I do, they never seem to go away and I can't ever seem to stop picking at literally nothing. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if so, what do you do to keep your hands away from tearing into your skin, or to get rid of the scars? ... or is my topic for another board?

"Maybe some of the following suggestions would work: dermabrasion Dermabrasion may be used to minimize small scars, minor skin surface irregularities, and acne scars. Dermabrasion involves removing the top layers of skin with an electrical machine that abrades the skin. As the skin heals from the procedure, the surface appears smoother and fresher. chemical peels Chemical peels are often used to minimize sun-damaged skin, irregular pigment, and superficial scars. The top layer of skin is removed with a chemical application to the skin. By removing the top layer, the skin regenerates, often improving its appearance. laser resurfacing Laser resurfacing uses high-energy light to burn away damaged skin. Laser resurfacing may be used to minimize wrinkles and fine scars.

I have acne scars does anyone have any idea how to help me get rid of them?

"There are several at-home microdermabrasion kits available in almost any drugstore. Its like a very fine-grit facial scrub. Be very careful about over usage, combining it with other exfoliation products, and always use a sunscreen during the day.

"Talking from experience, microdermabrasion and lots of aloe vera!! (I use the clear aloe gel from Epicuren). I am sure any 100% aloe gel is good......

"There are two types of acne scars:pigmented and pitted. The pigmented ones can be shed off by conscientously and regularly applying AHA's(combined with a good spf during the day,or you could make matters worse). The pitted ones are harder, since they signify internal tissue damage. You do can soften them up by sloughing off dead cells with microdermabrasion and the use of a good exfoliant acid (once again,AHA's do the trick)but you must also use a product that stimulates the skin collagen production,to soften the scars appearance from the inside.I heard there's a lotion called MaMa (just try and Google it)that combines both the outside peeling and the internal stimulation. It's probably around $50.And remember to use an SPF to protect yourself, since this products make your skin overly sensitive, which can lead to further ,deeper scarring id skin is left exposed.

"Unfortunately, the only way to really get rid of acne scars is either by deep chemical peels or laser peels done in a physicians office. Over the counter products are not even half the strength you get from a physician. I have worked in plastic surgery and now work for a derm. Also good skin care products are a must! Things you buy at a department store are a waste of money. For example, stores like Macy's carry a product called Prevage. It usually cost $150 and has only .5 of the active ingredients. You can purchase the same product in most physicians' offices for $115 and it is double the strength. Products that contain glycolic acids (rx strength) are great for up keep after peels. As far as microdermabrasion, it only removes part of the top layer of skin. Peels go as far as 4 layers deep. Acne scars are much deeper than one layer.

"as you can see, all of these procedures are expensive. so for future reference to others, DO NOT POP YOUR ZITS! i don't care how gross and ugly they look do not pop them. that's what causes the scars. put medications on em and just wait it out.

northdakota84
"Popping zits is not the only reason people get acne scars. About 2 years ago I had a horrible outbreak of cystic acne that lasted about 6 months until I got a prescription (Clenia) to clear it up. I NEVER popped any of my pimples, and I still got small pitted scars on my cheeks. Severe acne can cause scarring even if you don't pick at it.The other posts are generally correct in that the things you can buy at the drugstore are not going to do much for pitted scars, but they can help with hyperpigmentation. To get rid of other scars, you'll need to see a dermatologist.

"I have also had cystic acne (a lot of times it's hormonal) and never popped any of those because they don't ever form a head like regular pimples. They always leave scars, so I agree with the above post that popping isn't the only reason people have acne scars.

"Something that has helped fade scarring is ProActiv's skin lightening lotion. It's great! Put it on at night, but make sure it has time to absorb into your skin and use an old pillowcase, as it has bleached spots on my pillowcase!

"i have too acne,my skin is oil ,have u any suggestion

"I had a chemical peel last year. I had years of sunspots and acne scars. To this day, people are still complimenting me on how much younger and better I look. I now use a much better sunscreen and wear hats more often. The peel was one of the most painful things I have ever done, while it was being applied. 5 minutes later, the pain was gone. My Dr. recommended a new sesame oil based burn cream that speeded the healing process.

jenan
Yes peels and good skincare products are expensive but you can never put a price on your face. Your face is what you present to everyone around you. If you have problems with your skin it will affect how you feel about yourself. Confidence is priceless!!!!!
