A good way for teens to clear acne without buying anything. > - Beauty and Fashion >
Beautyflow.com TrueColors"Lately I have seen billions of commercials for acne products and I have to say "who let these teen get acne in the first place?" so I have created a small.......guide to keeping skin clear BEFORE acne has started. 1. First of all before placing on makeup always take a washcloth, wet it down with warm water, and SCRUB your face. This will get A LOT of the dead skin off. 2. Always use a bland soap..."super scented or 'pretty' " soaps really don't work that well and usually add on to the problem. 3. When taking off makeup, don't use "oily" products, even if it says it is oil free it may not be. If it feels oily DON'T use it. I suggest the makeup wipes, and watering them down a bit. GET AS MUCH off with water first. 4. Do step 1 before bed. And remember to take your makeup off. Also for teens in school try not to rest your head on your hands, they tend to be sweaty and will only lead to more pimples.

""Let" them get acne? You crack me up. Its not always a matter of just using the right routine and keeping the face clean and oil free, sometimes its a little more serious than an occasional tiny pimple, that's when the products or prescriptions are needed.

"although i can say thanks for the tips, i sorta agree with catwoman a little. people who have really bad acne problems need more than that. i take care of my face, and do more than what you have said to do, but i still get an occasional pimple. the best thing i can say to lower your pimple problems, is eat right! seriously, eating junky, greasy food all the time does affect your face. now, i dont mean stop eating icecream or chocolate altogether. just eat an apple instead of munching on potato chips for a snack. and DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!! it really helps. i used to drink coke all the time, and i decided to drink more water. ive had maybe two glasses of coke in the past couple months, and am drinking tons of water, and it really helps clear my face up.

"I totally agree with Catwoman, the diet and metabolizing of fats in foods also have a great deal to do with acne teen or adult, sometimes no matter what you do the acne can be mild or severe, it is not a question of routine although that helps a great deal. I had a case of adult acne and scarring I had never had it as a teen but it came to kick me in the pants as adult anyway I tried everything even that proactive nothing worked I was at my wits ends and then the stress did not help any either it made it worse, then I tried the medicated acne treatment line from bee-luscious skincare OH MY GOD this stuff is the bomb !!!!!!! not only did it clear everything up but the medicated acne peel started to help the scars then once I had the acne under control came maintenance I use the papaya enzyme line and my complexion is like VELVET even the guys at work compliment me and trust me that's saying A WHOLE LOT !!!! you can check it out on www.beeroyalproducts.com for yourself I swear by it and try to pass on the info to anyone in need .Have a great afternoon

"This acne site isn't out to sell things. Its very good & lists an acne regimen. It uses over the counter products that are easy & inexpensive to buy. My daughter has acne & is using generic products to help save money. (the paragraph below is from the web site). www.acne.org Irritation of the skin can aggravate acne, and should be avoided. The Regimen is not just about application of generous amounts of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, it is also about how you treat your skin. The exact science of what causes pimples is not known. It is known, however, that irritation can make it worse. As long as you are not picking at your face, scrubbing it with a harsh washcloth, or otherwise irritating it, your skin is primed for benzoyl peroxide. Because an effective acne regimen requires a non-irritated face, if your skin is already irritated from the medication you are currently using, it may be a good idea to give your skin a few days to get back to normal before embarking on this regimen.

"Hah. Truecolors, you have no idea. Why don't you just talk to a real dermatologist already?? Scrubbing my face?? I cringe at the aftermath that will bring. You can't prevent acne--it is a MEDICAL problem. Cleaning helps but will not solve it. Lol.

starqueen This thread may help truecolors realize scrubbing hard on your face isn't way to go to clear up acne; like my message # 6 states. So true is getting answer to his/her question.

"I did not come on here to sell anything it was a product I have used and actually if you compare toother brands its not that expensive its lasted me over 8 months cause you use very little, the problem with cheap brands unfortunately is that you will use much more and really no results, I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for and please don't take this the wrong way I am not being mean or anything just that a good product delivers good results and it will cost more but I also posted about DIET and WHAT WE EAT is very important to good skincare as well. And it is truly far more expensive if you o to a dermatologist. Any way I was just trying to help ...

"sleepingfrog2 Cheap brands work as well as expensive ones do. Yes diet is important for acne (diet IS what we eat). You missed the entire point of this thread: "A good way for teens to clear acne without buying anything". Read thread title again. We can not afford beeroyalproducts. Then post a way to clear acne by not buying/selling anything like you are attempting.

"i find your claim that parents are somehow responsible for their children's acne insulting. while for some people your tips might be worthwhile, it's just hurtful to place blame on what is an already painful problem.

"acne is caused by hormones, plain and simple. not by the food you eat, or how much you scrub your face (and yes scrubbing will irritate acne you already have more). i've known girls you never wash their face at night or take their make up off and they have perfect skin. acne is caused by hormones.

"oh calikitten I have a cousin like that...when I say BEAUTIFUL drop dead gorgeous not a blemish in sight skin, its her...now I don't want to throw out all her dirty habits but believe me she does not TAKE care of herself at ALL...now myself...I eat great, make sure I drink plenty of water, buy and have tried every product but when that time of the month rolls around BAM Pimple!!!! I am fortunate (and its only with age that I have begun to count my blessings) that I don't have really bad acne.

"The OP really bothered me by suggesting that anybody "allows" acne to happen to their teens. Hmmm I actually find the advice to be useless against acne as well. It may help against the occassional blemish but would be ineffective against full blown acne. I grew up an athlete with a nutritionist the only junk food I was allowed were unsalted pretzels which I didn't like so I never had them. I drank lots of water, had a strict bedtime, and had top training instructor to ensure that I was in top shape to compete. I never had a single blemish until I was out of my teen years and then I had full on acne. I had everything available to me for healthy living and I still ended up with BAD acne and believe me it had nothing to do with how I washed my face or the products I was using. Sometimes it's hereditary and sometimes it's horomones but don't think for a second that your beauty regime is what's keeping you from having acne and there is no one general FREE regime to "prevent acne before it happens" out there that can prevent genetics.

"Ha...my mom was washing my face with noxzema when I was four. Calikitten- acne is not purely hormonal, if it was hormonal, all of those flawless skinned girls that were my classmates in highschool would have had acne as well. Acne-prone people not only have genetics to blame, but also can have incorrect skin regimens, poor diets, or perhaps bad habits, like leaning on hands, etc. Sure, part of it is hormonal, as many people get worse breakouts when hormones are running rampant. Diet can help: carrots and tomatoes contain enzymes and vitamins that promote healthy skin. And water can help flush out impurities. For the author of the OP, you simplify it too much. Sure that might work for you, but not everyone is so fortunate as to have skin that can be acne-free with just those simplistic steps. I have to use organic products because my skin is hypersensitive to harsh chemicals, fragrances and those wicked parabens. Angell1: can you rub it in our faces a little more Also.. its nice to see yet another hardcore beeroyal supporter on the boards, brings back old memories...

Acne is not caused by poor hygiene, diet, or habits, but at times some products can cause irritation. Top experts would tell you this.

"HAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH m a teengager as u all can tell and i wipe m hands all over my face and i eat what ever the heck i want but i wash my faceand i am blemish free.[most of teh time i get the ocassional pimple but thats it] but um true colors what in the world posessed you to say SCRUB thats the worst you can do . I want to see you SCRUB your face hahaha im not trying to be mean but come on now in reality there is no way to cure very singal persons acne. part of its hormonal other is genetic. and some is just how your body is. there really is no ``correct`` or ``efective`` way of getting ride of acne im sorry to say , but you have to figure out what works for you.

"Actually, wildrose, I was not only told these things by skin experts (both dermatologists and aestheticians), but I've tried them and they happen to work for me. When I quit drinking soda, converted to an organic diet without a ton of sugar, and stopped touching my face with my hands unnecessarily, this cleared up my skin almost entirely. It was when I continued to do these things, and added in treatments and a particular regimen for my face that it all cleared up. "Top experts" all have differing opinions, some will tell you its strictly about taking care of the face, others will tell you to not only take care of your face, but take care of your body as well (the "you are what you eat" approach). I guess it depends on who one listens to, and what kind of changes one desires to make in their lifestyle. Also, notice in my prior post, the wording "can also": that doesn't mean everyone, it means that some people might find these to be problematic for them. The problem with some "experts" is that they try to generalize for the entire population... Also, wildrose, are you a top expert? I'm certainly not, but I would love to know what else you think about acne, and how to treat it.
