Beautyflow.com book worm"Hi Ladies, I am 34 and seeing the first signs of aging.................I think. I look in the mirror lately and all I see is this grey looking face. I need a pick me up and I am not sure where to start. I grew up in the 80's with the big hair thing and I can not seem to loose that trait. Still getting my hair permed, can you believe it. Relax, I do not have the bad bangs from the 80's, remember the poof on top and then the bang coming down the fore head. Anyway, without spending hundreds of dollars do any of you have any suggestions, and do any of you feel kind of sad that you are not in your twenties anymore with that svelte dewy skin? My skin for the most part is dewy but I do see the fine lines. Look forward to your responses.

"One more thing, I do not want to look like a cougar, and what is the true definition of a cougar anyway? I think that I should throw out all of my V neck tops, they seem cougarish to me is this correct?

"Bookworm, I really can't give you the advice you want without seeing you. I would suggest you go to my website and find the product that would help you. Contact me if you have any questions.

"I turned 36 this weekend, and, though there are a few tiny lines, I'm ocassionally still asked what grade I'm in (!?!). I'm a long-time slave to sunscreen; I drink water, eat produce, and don't smoke. My skin is changing, thoug, for sure. Every other week or so, I use one of thoes microdermabrasion lotion treatments on my face--LOreal and other drugstore brands make them. Define 'cougar'--is that the same as 'hooger'? I sometimes like v-necks with a white button-down shirt, or even a tank.

"I'll be 36 this month and I have to tell ya, nothing will make you age faster than worrying about it. Live your life to the fullest! We saw the best of 3 decades, recognize the blessings in that. All I can say is make sure your drinking plenty of water, lay off coffee and cigarettes as these suck the life and moisture out of skin. Do brisk walks with friends at least twice a week if you can. Keep up with loved ones and try a flattering color you've never worn before. Thinking youth is the key....

"i'll be turning 36 next wk as a matter of fact. haven't heard of the cougar look, but have heard of crows feet. go to a mid priced modern salon or spa to get an updated look. update hair style, follow subtle modern makeup trends- the classics that go with your features. when you ask for a change, beaticians try to envision you how they feel you should look based on your age...go with them if you have no clue how you would like to express yourself. do not copy another persons look or style. emphasize your features, accentuate your eyes if they are your best features. it also helps to read fashion magazines.

"Just visited the town in which I attended graduate school, years ago (wistful sigh). It's beautiful, with brick streets, gorgeous old campus buildings, and a bustling downtown. I went for a haircut (thank God, it's been months!!) from the same stylist who's done my hair for years now. Also my first real hair color :-(. At least it's the right color, anyhow. After witnessing multiple fashion abominations on the street there, committed by young and older alike, more observations about being over-30:1) We're still young, really.2) We shouldn't try to dress like 19-year-olds, but like the amazing women we are. Think Nicole Kidman, J Lo, Salma Hayak, Julianne Moore, etc. 3) We can actually wear some of the cute trendy things, but maybe just one of them at a time, and a magazine or two can show us how when we lack inspiration.4) If we find an understanding, collaborative hairstylist, he or she will evolve with us and always keep us looking our best! So, if you're still fretting, look up some photos of a celebrity with a body shape similar to yours, or hairstyle you like, and start there. Don't imitate a look literally, but study other women you admire to see how they put themselves together. If you see a woman whose hairstyle you admire, ask who cuts her hair. If your stylist is trapping you in the '80s, RUN AWAY. Ok, I won't accuse that person, 'cause you didn't say that!

"Great advice Lizzard. About the V-necks...I wear deep-cut V-necks with an undershirt (tank top) underneath. Looks great, not trampy. -
