"I had my hair highlighted 5 weeks ago and told the hairdresser that I want to start going back to my natural hair color but she convinced me I needed blonde highlights for the summer. I have been highlighting my hair for a couple years now and I am sick of having my roots grow out and having to go have my hair highlighted again. Plus the hairdresser I use to go to for 2 years left and I cannot find anyone else I like. Any ideas besides having my hair stripped, I heard that is not good for your hair. Im tempted to just buy a color and see if it matching my hair color. Thanks!

U CAN BUY THE COLOUR BUT THE RESULT WILL BE DIFFERENT ON HIGHLIGHTED HAIR....

"I'd suggest you go back and ask if it is too late to apply a neutralizer to tone down the highlights. Or ask for low lights in your natural color. You can dye your hair back to your natural color yourself, but as Strawberry pointed out, it will be lighter where your hair is colored, but will tone it down some. I am in the process of gradually giving up highlights. I was having highlights and low lights that are close to my natural brown color to add depth and help camouflage gray. I too got tired of keeping up the roots, and then the ends look so much lighter than the rest. I started doing less highlights, and more low lights, and next time will do only low lights in my natural color. As the highlights grow out, I will give up the lowlights.

"It bites... but let your hair grow out an inch or so. A good stylist should be able to dye your hair a shade that matches the roots exactly. I would not strip it, its way too harsh on your hair... plus if you've been going lighter I dont think that will work because the color has already been lifted.
