"Need eyeliner tips, and waterproof eye make-up." > - Beauty and Fashion >
Beautyflow.com catwoman708"I've never worn eyeliner/eye pencils much, and I'm just not very good at applying it. I rarely even wear mascara, as I wear contacts and it irritates my eyes, and somehow makes me look older. But without it I look pale and washed out. For everyday I wear a little eyebrow pencil (super thin eyebrows) and a little eye shadow, then curl my eyelashes and brush them with a wet lash comb to get the eye shadow off and make them look darker/longer. If I have to dress up, I wear a lash tint that looks a little more natural than mascara.I am practicing now with different make-up and techniques for DDs wedding next Fall. I know I will be doing a lot of crying and eye dabbing, so can anyone recommend a good waterproof mascara that doesn't look clumpy/flaky? I also need tips for colors and applying eyeliner/eye pencil to accentuate my eyes without looking overdone or too dark. I have med-dark brown hair, green eyes very dark eyebrows and lashes, pale skin, and I'm in my 40's so my eyelids are starting to get a little wrinkly, making it harder to apply eyeliner. I usually use dark brown, or taupe when I can find it. I've heard navy eyeliner is flattering. Any thoughts?

"Hi Catwoman! I have a mascara and an eyeliner pencil (separate brands) to suggest. For the mascara, I really like Neutrogena's Full-Volume Fortifying mascara... it's not waterproof but it does make your eyelashes look naturally long and with an eyelash curler beforehand makes them look beautifully curled! I have cried when I wore it and it does come off on tissues but has never made black streaks around my eyes or down my cheeks. I, too, have dark brown hair, brows and lashes, light skin and green eyes and will concur that navy eyeliner is flattering! Rimmel has a liner (non-pencil, one that is in the plastic... thing... you know!!) called Aubergine, which is a dark plum-navy color and when you put it on, if you go very lightly, you can trace an extremely thin line of it over your lashes and it looks natural and beautiful. It comes with a tiny sharpener so you can keep re-sharpening it to that point, or do a cat-eye, or something! I just think it's a beautiful color and a great substitute for black or brown. Just my two cents!

"I'm in my 40's so my eyelids are starting to get a little wrinkly, making it harder to apply eyeliner.Based on this, and my personal situation (I have extremely puffy upper eyelids, so it's really hard to apply eyeliner) I want to recommend the best eyeliner in the world to you. I've bought the same type/brand for about five years now. Because of the type of pencil it is, you will be able to overcome the wrinkle factor. It just glides on. Almay Amazing Lasting 16-Hour pencil. It's not labeled waterproof, but I have even went SWIMMING with it on, and it's lasted. It does not smudge or drip when I cry. It's not an actual pencil, but it's not liquid either. It's the kind you don't need to sharpen with a sharpener, just swivel the bottom. I bet if you try it you'll never wear anything else.
