"Invite says "coat & tie" for men- What do women wear?!" > - Beauty and Fashion >
Beautyflow.com Lightbulb79"Just received an invitation for a rehearsal dinner for a family member's wedding and the bottom of the invite says "coat and tie". The location of the rehearsal dinner is a private members-only type of place where the waiters wear white gloves and walk around with silver trays and white hand cloths over their arms. QUESTION: What would I (a woman) wear to this event? I don't want to get too dressy but maybe this occasion and location calls for that? For the wedding I am wearing a silk bubble style dress in teal with black trim. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP!

"Coat and tie dress codes for restuarants translate into semi formal. You could wear your "after five little black dress", a nice, dressy-dress/suit, a dressy top with a dressy skirt or slacks, or a cocktail or tea-lenth dress. Dressy shoes, evening purse, and wrap that coordinates. And dig out the pearls or costume jewelry with a little glitz. (Formal would be a long evening dress, and a tux for men)I wouldn't go too sexy or too glitzy, you might show up the bride to be.
