"First and foremost, I hate the term "plus size"! I'm 5'11'' tall, weigh about 160lbs and wear a size 8. Technically the fashion world codes me as plus size, but in reality I'm well below the national average for size. I am constantly re-cruited for commercials, advertisements, and pin up work. However when I look into getting a modeling agent, they all tell me the same thing. I am a perfect soccer mom, a good background character, I'll never work in high fashion. They all want to cut my hair, color it brown, make me look frumpy, age me by 10 years, and above all every single agent has told me I need to be less sexy because I am a big girl. I am currently a bartender in Las vegas, and wear corsets and fitted clothes, I turn heads!!! Am I wrong for declining modelling jobs that want to de-sex my look? And if anyone knows of a modeling agency that wuld take on a beautifull, tall elegant "normal size girl" can you give some info? I always struggled with my weight and felt bad about myself, but now I'm proud! I think more normal woman should be depicted in magazines and on billboards and runways! I own designer clothes, They fit me just fine! I'm stylish and I won'nt give up my sex appeal to appease society! Besides, I think it's healthy to have high fshion sexy woman who are normal! Am I wrong? check out my portfolio pics before you comment!

"You have really nice facial features--very balanced, very lovely. However, no one wants a model who refuses to change her hair style or color. Quite frankly, the blonde color looks washed out on you. A nice chestnut with caramel highlights would bring out the glow in your skin and highlight your crystal eyes.Take the modeling jobs you want, however. If you don't like their terms, don't accept them. It is your life. It's great that you are comfortable with how you look--but you can't demand that everyone else agree with your standards.

"THe wold has gone crazy, I am a size 4, 5'4 and 130lbs and was recently called a "plus sized girl" and told to "roll down the hill out of his sight, so he could look at better looking girls" even though I know it was wrong it still hurt my feelings, and seemed really unfair. At a size 8, you are not a plus sized girl, especially considering your height. Don't let anyone insult you that way. On the other hand, if an employer wants a certain look, they will find someone for that look. If you want the jobs, you might have to adapt your look for the jobs. It is crazy what the world expects from women (especially when a balding gray haired man with a paunch is considered attractive, and fat guys can have skinny girlfriends, but not the other way around) but unless you are on a mission to change the world, your decision should be about whether to take jobs that are not ideal, or wait for the great job to come along (and it might not) in the meantime, enjoy your look, and enjoy the job, you are very beautiful.

ARE YOU OF GERMAN heritage?? i agree on the blonde hair sort of. you can always get high or low-lights. model where you feel comfortable. i'm 54, looking 39, am 5'3 and weigh 117, size 7, i despise the unrealistic pencil thin model look!! give me a 40's marilyn look, anyday!!! the world HAS gone mad!! best of everything to you!!!!!

Its insulting you call a size 8 'fat'

Miss Z
Its insulting you call a size 8 'fatIt's all relative. Size eight is fat to someone who is used to wearing a size two.

No..its simply a size larger than size 2. It has nothing to do with fat.

"I think you are beautiful, and your eyes are mesmerizing. I guess to be "high-fashion", you have to have a gaunt, emaciated, hooked on heroin look to be considered. Look at Emme, Carol Alt's sister (don't remember name), and Liv Tyler. They're all beautiful women and are considered "full-figured" by the industry standards. Sad commentary on our society, especially when you consider so many of our own children (in this country) go to bed hungry.
